Police in Newton are warning residents about a mail theft that happened at a United States post office in the Massachusetts city. The Newton Police Department announced Tuesday that while officers were investigating an alarm at the Auburndale Post Office, other officers on duty saw a suspect actively stealing mail from a U.S. Postal Service mailbox in front of the Newtonville Post Office.
